The Dolomites are one of Italy’s big attractions. They are home to some of the country’s best ski resorts in Winter and there are many walking tracks that visitors enjoy in Summer. To access the best areas, we recommend you take the Great Dolomites Road from Cortina to Bolzano using roads SR48, SS48 and SS241. This video does that and recommends the 110 kilometre trip should be done slowly. The complete road is only accessible from mid-Spring to late Autumn but sections are usually open for longer than this. We enjoyed our trip in late May when there was still plenty of snow on the ground but hikers would be happy later in the year.
